Himachal Pradesh a land of God and Godess. it is also called
"Devabhoomi". There are many temples in Himachal Pradesh.
There are more than 2000 religious places scattered and
temples all over Himachal Pradesh. Many of these are quite
well-known and attract thousands of devotees throughout the
year. Temples of Himachal Pradesh are also the main tourist
attraction. Mostly public of Himachal is Hindu. There are
many temples in Himachal Pradesh like Bhootnath Temple,
Syamakall Temple, Raghunath Temple, and Bijli Mahadev
Temple. |

Naina Devi Yatra : According to legend, Lord Shiva’s consort
Sati once burnt herself alive in Yagna to avenge an insult
to Lord Shiva. The distraught Shiva picked her corpse and
gyrated his horrified dance. Then Lord Vishnu unleashed his
Chakra and cut the Sati’s body into fifty one pieces to save
the earth from Shiva’s wrath. All the fifty one places -
where parts of Sati's body fell, became known as Shakti
Peeths. |

Lakshmi Narayan Temple
The Lakshminarayan group of temples in the town of Chamba
are of great archaeological importance. Six stone temples
dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu with tall shikaras, finely
carved, date from the 8th century AD. The Lakshminarayan
Temple is the oldest in this group. Other temples around
Chamba town include, those dedicated to Hari Rai, Champavati,
Bansigopal, Ram Chandra, Brijeshwari, Chamunda, Narsingh,
and Yogi Charpat Nath. |

Mata Chintpurni & Chamunda Devi
The temple dedicated to Mata Chintpurni Devi is located in a
village of the same name in District Una, Himachal Pradesh.
Devotees have been visiting this Shaktipeeth for centuries
to pray at the lotus feet of Mata Shri Chhinnamastika Devi
and Mata Shri Chintpurni Devi. They bring with them their
worldly concerns and seek blessings from the Devi. It is
believed that if you ask something from the Devi with a true
heart, your wish will be granted. |

Baijnath Temple
built in 804 A.D. and dedicated to Shiva Vaidyanatha. Its
tall shikhara carved in stone is framed by the imposing snow
capped peaks of Dhauladhars. The linga enshrined in its
sanctum is one of the 12 jyotirlingas in the country. Every
year during the Shivratri fair, thousands of pilgrims
descend on Baijnath for the colorful fair and festivities.
It is 16-km from Palampur and 56-km from Dharamsala.

Chaurasi Temple
The 9th century temples at Bharmaur are among the most
important early Hindu temples in the Chamba Valley.
According to legend, 84 (chaurasi) yogi's visited Bharmaur,
capital of King Sahil Varma. They were so pleased with the
king's humility and hospitality that they blessed him with
ten sons and a daughter, Champavati. A cluster of shrines
commemorates that visit. The |

Kedarnath Temple
Kedarnath Temple at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand: One
of the 12 Jyotirlingams in India and an important center for
pilgrms all over India in the lofty Himalayas, it is
accessed only after a long trek. Kedarnath, Madhya Maheshwar,
Rudranath, Tunganath and Kalpeswar constitute the Panch(5)
Kedar shrines. |

Hadimba Temple
is one of the most important temples in the region. This
four story wooden temple is located in the middle of a
forest called the Dhungiri Van Vihar. From the name of the
forest parkland this temple derives its name. This temple
was erected in 1553 and is dedicated to Goddess Hadimba. |

Renukaji Temple
It is believed that Rishi Jamdagni, displeased by
his wife Renuka, instructed his son Parshuram to behead her.
The son obeyed his father's wishes. Pleased at Parshuram's
loyalty, the Rishi granted his son a wish, and Parshuram
asked for the restoration of his mother to life. |

Ancient legends speak of a time when demons lorded over the
Himalaya mountains and harassed the gods. Led by Lord
Vishnu, the gods decided to destroy them. They focused their
strengths and huge flames rose from the ground. From that
fire, a young girl took birth. She is regarded as Adishakti-the
first 'shakti'.

temple through which natural gas comes out and the priest of
the temple lights this

Accommodation :
There is a rest house near the bus stand managed by Himachal
Pradesh Government. Recently, a new Dharamshala "Mat Anchal"
has come up near the Bus Stand. Reasonable accommodation can
be found on the hill top. It is difficult to get
accommodation during Navratras.
Accessibility :
This famous temple is connected with National Highway No.
21, Nearest Airport is Chandigarh which is connected with
New Delhi by Jet Airways and Indian Airlines Flights. The
distance of the shrine from Chandigarh is approx. 100 kms.
Nearest railway station is Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur
Sahib. |
